| David “Gumby” Dominy started his grappling arts in 1996 at the University of Guelph Wrestling Club, and after 4 years became a well rounded wrestler.
In 1999-2000, David made the switch from wrestling to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After many years of training under the instruction of Professor Rob Veltman, he received his Black Belt in the presence of Professor David Adiv.
David has been quite active in competition, and has won several tournaments including the Provincial Championships in 2002. The following year David won the Canadian Championships, and then went on to win The Dearborn Health 2004 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
In more recent competitions, he has won the 2007 Joslins Canadian Open Championship, and in 2008... won a superfight challenge in New Jersey where he was also awarded "Best Technical fighter" in the respected division.
For many years David has been focusing on teaching and promoting the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in a safe & progressive manor, and is still presently active in competitions.
