• Frank started practising judo under Mr. Wm. (Bill) Doherty (then a Brown Belt) at the Wilson Heights Judo Club in Toronto in 1961.
• After the club was forced to close, due to the laundromat located upstairs collapsing into the dojo located in the basement, Frank was out of judo for about 18 months.
• Frank resumed his judo career in the fall of 1964 after noticing a judo club operating in the Amesbury Community Centre in Toronto which turned out to be his former club, renamed the Budokan Judo Club.
• He has been actively involved in practising, competing and teaching judo since that time.
• Frank took his instruction from Sensei Doherty at the Budokan but also had the good fortune of receiving twice weekly instruction from Takada Sensei, at the time a 6th Dan as well as head of the Kodokan Foreign Division, who was teaching at the Kidokan Judo Club in Toronto for about three years.
• In 1966, Frank was honoured to be selected by Sensei Doherty as Head Instructor of the 1st Camp Budokan for two weeks in the Parry Sound area. This was the first Canadian Summer Judo Camp and has been held ever since in various locations in Ontario since that time.
• Frank rapidly progressed through his Kyu (non-black belt) grades competing at many local, provincial and inter-provincial tournaments as well as in the USA and obtained his Shodan (1st Degree) Black Belt in November 1967.
- He continued to practise and teach at the Toronto Budokan J.C. and in addition to those duties, in 1968 became the Chief Instructor of the Brampton Budokan J.C. as well as the Brampton "Y" J.C.
• After getting married and moving to Guelph in the fall of 1969 Frank restricted his teaching activities to the Brampton Budokan and Brampton "Y" Judo Clubs to which he commuted for two more years before resigning.
• In the mid 70's, Frank approached Richard and Dorothy Frank who were then running and teaching at the Guelph "Y" J.C. and offered his services as an assistant instructor.
• As both Richard and Dorothy were preparing to retire from Judo and turn the club over to a younger judoka, this offer was readily accepted. This turn-over occurred about one year later when he became the Dojo-shu of the Guelph "Y" Judo Club the forerunner of what was to become the Kohbukan Judo Club.
• In 1988, Frank left Guelph and the Kohbukan and moved to Mount Forest where he started and taught at a new club, the Norwell Budokan Judo Club in nearby Palmerston, for four years until extensive travel associated with his work, and unable to find an experienced judoka to run the club in his place, forced him to close that club.
• In the early 80's, Frank resumed his judo refereeing career after a considerable lay-off and had to start the certification process from scratch. After obtaining his various regional, provincial and national certifications (10 stages), Frank was honoured and pleased to receive his IJF Continental Referee license in 1995, a rank he currently holds.
• Refereeing has been his main focus these past 15+ years. He has served as Chief Referee at many provincial shiais and was a member of the Judo Ontario Referee Commission for eight years.
• After retiring in 2004 from his work as a Major Project Expeditor and Quality Control Consultant, he resumed his association with the Kohbukan Judo Club as one of the Senior Instructors.
• In 2006 Frank received his Yondan (4th Degree) Black Belt
